Leadership & Community Engagement at Stony Brook University
I am currently a student at Stony Brook University and actively involved in the Korean International Student Society (KISS), where I have taken on leadership roles to strengthen the Korean student community and create meaningful opportunities for connection and support.
As the President of KISS, I oversee the overall direction and operations of the organization, working closely with executive members to plan and execute impactful programs. I organized orientation and networking events in Korea for incoming freshmen, providing them with essential information about campus life and encouraging early engagement with the Korean Student Association. After relocating to the United States, I served as the main coordinator for a collaborative event with the cosmetics company Essen Herb, successfully connecting a corporate partner with the student community and creating a memorable cultural experience. In addition, I led the planning and execution of a study-library event designed to provide academic resources, peer support, and a productive learning environment, helping students stay motivated and academically engaged.
Prior to serving as President, I worked as a General Executive Member of KISS, where I focused on strengthening campus outreach and student participation. Through direct, in-person promotion, I increased awareness of KISS events and encouraged broader student involvement. I also collaborated closely with the Promotions Team to develop effective on-campus marketing strategies, contributing to higher attendance and stronger engagement across events.
Beyond campus leadership, I have also been actively involved in community service. At the Jamsilbondong Community Center in Seoul, I participated in a volunteer program dedicated to preparing side dishes for underprivileged neighbors. Through hands-on cooking and food distribution, I helped support local residents in need and experienced the importance of empathy, teamwork, and social responsibility firsthand.
Through these experiences, I have developed strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills while learning how to build inclusive communities both on campus and beyond.
